Hiking Rio Celeste and Tenorio National Park
According to legend, when God finished painting the sky, he washed his brushes in the river that now bears the name Rio Celeste (light blue river). Enjoy this legendary river on this hike!
We start off from the hotel at 8:00 a.m. When we get to the park, we start our hike through this beautiful ecosystem, which offers the chance to see animals and flora. Along the walk we will come across the magnificent Rio Celeste waterfall, and also the place where the river gains its amazing light blue color. Finally we arrive at the natural hot springs. Bathing is not allowed into the National Park.
Walk: 4 to 5 hours, total 7 kilometers
What to bring: hiking shoes or sneakers and lots of energy. Optional: sun block, camera, hat
We include: Water bottle, fruit, poncho if raining, guide and admission fee to the park
Note on the Rio Celeste: It is possible that during extreme weather conditions of ongoing, long-lasting, heavy rains, the river may lose its coloration due to mud carried in the water. However, about 5 or 6 hours of calm weather can restore the expected blue color. Otherwise, Rio Celeste can be visited any time of the year.
